Perth hypnotherapist and Creative Rite Solutions suggests that Hypnotherapy can be very helpful in assisting addictive behaviour, lowering stress levels and focusing attention changes.

When you think about addiction the first thing that comes to mind are drugs like ice, ecstasy or heroin and yet addiction can take many forms. People can have  an addiction to TV, in fact, the average American watches more than 7 hours of television a day. (Yapko,1997:295) And what about computer games, gambling, alcohol or sugar addiction. People can become addicted to something because that particular habit or drug is a  form of escapism from their life at a time of stress. The need to escape life and form addictions according to new research acknowledges that any addiction is likely to have a key cause, and so the kind of drug that is currently being used is most often of little significance.

Bessel Van der Kolk, M.D. author of 'The Body Keeps The Score,' draws on 30 years of experience to argue powerfully that trauma is one of the West's most urgent health issues. The list of its effects is long: on mental and physical health, employment, education, crime, relationships, domestic or family abuse, alcoholism,  and drug addiction.

“We all want to live in a world that is safe, manageable… predictable, and victims remind us that this is not always the case,” says van der Kolk. When no one wants to hear about a person’s trauma, it finds a way to manifest in their body.

The ACE Study (Levine, P.A. 2010 p1), shows a strong relationship between the number of adverse childhood experiences and reports of cigarette smoking, obesity, physical inactivity, alcoholism, drug abuse, depression, and suicide attempts. In addition, those who reported larger numbers of adverse experiences were more likely to have multiple health risk behaviours. Perhaps most importantly, this study challenges what has been traditionally viewed as public health or mental health problems by indicating these behaviors appear to be coping mechanisms for people who have had adverse childhood experiences. The authors of this study suggest these adaptive behaviors may also reflect the effects of the adverse experiences on the developing brain chemistry—effects that may lead to the adoption of the same coping behaviors.

Hypnotherapy is a natural state of being that's completely safe and has been found to be highly successful in helping people to relieve stress associated with  striving to escape addictions and substance abuse. Hypnotherapy can be utilised as part of the process for rehabilitation, usually in conjunction with health professionals. It can also be a stand-alone method for those who are not under the care of a health professional.
If we repeat and practice an new activity a few times it’s mastered by our subconscious mind and turns into a new healthy habit.

Perth hypnotherapist, Jennipher McDonald uses hypnotherapy and NLP tools to change thinking and behaviour patterns.  Any new thinking or habitual pattern is possible when interacting with both the conscious mind and the subconscious  drawing on inner reserves and potentials that often laid dormant until rediscovered so that new desired behavioural patterns are suggested and reinforced.
