Three ways to fill your cup and take care of yourself first.
1. Take time out in your day to be in nature, whether it is , beach, forrest or your favourite park , fress air and quiet reflection time being in nature is the best way to balance your body/mind/spirit which is a mental health habit that will ground you and hold you in wellbeing.
2. Breathwork and meditation,
You can use Breathwork or meditation for going inside to remember who you are, ask yourself what is me? and what is not me? It is good to know who you are in this busy and ever changing world. Know thyself. These were the words inscribed almost as a warning in the pronaos of the Temple of Apollo in Delphi many hundreds of years ago, Plato transmitted this phrase via his dialogues. He suggested the importance of looking inwards before making any decisions or taking any steps forward. In fact, our society continues to act without reflecting first, blames others for its failures, and continues to behave without integrity. When you know yourself, your mind has clarity.
3. Take care of yourself
You take care of yourself when you know what you like - this can be a hobby, it can be a sport, it can be anything that makes you feel good about yourself, any thing that brings you joy and fills your heart. If you don't know what you love to do it can be such a wonderful exploration to try out different hobbies, try out different passtimes to find out what nourishes your soul.
Taking care of yourself is noticing what nourishes you and what adds to your life? It could be having a massage, or going to a concert. It might be joining a pottery class or taking up sky diving. Cooking or eating beautiful food, or both, taking a special holiday. When you take care of yourself first, you can then be of service to others in ways that are reciprical. The name of the game is to remember all of yourself, your wholeness, your individuality, your wonderfulness and when you do - you are a gift to all of the people around you, then you are a gift to the world.
